Author Bill Bryson is fifty-three years old. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1951. In 1973, when he was twenty-two years of age, he and friend Stephen Katz backpacked around Europe. Bryson adored England, and moved there soon after. He married an English woman and later had four children. He resided in North Yorkshire, then in 1995, he moved his family back to his birthplace, the United States. The Brysons settled in Hanover, New Hampshire where they still live now.
